Common Eye Conditions

Hyperopia (Farsightedness)

If you suffer from hyperopia, or farsightedness, you are able to clearly see objects at a distance but have extreme difficulty focusing on objects directly in front of you. Normally, light rays enter the eye and are focused on the retina; but when you are farsighted, these rays are focused behind the retina instead.

The most common treatment for farsighted vision is the use of contact lenses or eyeglasses, which usually only need to be worn while reading or using a computer, but may be required to wear at all times. Lasik surgery is also used in severe cases, or when corrective lenses are not appropriate.
