Common Eye Conditions

Dry Eye

If you are experiencing itching, blurry vision, stinging, redness, pain, or a grainy feeling in your eyes, you may be suffering from dry eye syndrome.

The eye is normally kept moist and lubricated by tears. When there is an imbalance within the tear duct system, your eyes will become dry and irritated. Chronic dry eye is very unpleasant and can be caused by a number of factors, including certain medications like anti-depressants, allergies, and menopause.

Artificial tears (eye drops) are the most common treatment for dry eyes. For more extreme cases, various methods are available to temporarily or permanently close the tear drains, allowing the eyes to retain moisture for longer periods of time.
